Toy Story characters on a birthday poster reading Reach Four the Sky

My daughter's 4th birthday was Toy Story inspired, specifically "Reach FOUR the Sky". So I always find a digital invitation on Etsy, it's cheap and you can usually edit it on Corji or Canva and send them out through text. I have cropped the invitation above to leave out personal information, but this is the one we sent for this party! It is also important to note as reading through what we did for this party, that this party is not set up for other children. This is a family/family friends party and not one for other kid friends yet. And at this time, their is no other children in our family besides my own. So I do not have extra activities set up to keep other children entertained. But keep reading through if you want to see what we did for this celebration!

My daughter's 4th birthday was Toy Story inspired, specifically "Reach FOUR the Sky". Doing balloon garlands for each of my kid's birthdays has become a tradition that they look forward to each year. I like to pick the colors I want, then buy them in separate packs on Amazon, versus buying the premade balloon kits. I think you get more of each of the sizes this way. I also prefer to use fishing line instead of the balloon garland tape, I think it goes a lot faster, as well as it is also easier to set up where you would like. I hang mine with command strips and 260 balloons. I also like to add in mylar balloons to add some more visual interest. I am definitely not a professional or expert, but it is something I enjoy doing.

Something else I have enjoyed, in addition to the kids, is theming the clothes. My birthday girl really wanted to be Jessie, so I set her up with the dress, the boots and the hat. My older daughter choose to be Bo Peep and my youngest Woody (he did have a hat as well, but in true toddler fashion-it was somewhere on the floor). My husband and I chose to go with Toy Story themed shirts and matching "Pizza Planet" hats. We purchased every oufit from Shein.

For other decorations, I typically like to do more mylar balloons at the front door and back door, a banner or ballons at those locations, and some type of back drop to cover the back door (mostly because it has been half-painted for a long time and I try to cover up that that project is still not done). I also put table cloth s on all the surfaces guest will sit and where food will be served. Another tradition I have done since my first child's birthday, is a themed sign, and we have saved these signs from each birthday. I usually buy the design on Etsy (typically under 5 dollars) and it can be edited on Canva or Corji. I then get a yard sign printed with the design from Office Depot or Vista Print. I like to decorate the initial hallway the guests walk through to get to the living room and for this party (unfortunatly I do not have a picture), I hung toy soliders with parachutes from the ceiling. To hang them, I just used mini command hooks. Another detail not pictured was that I used all the Toy Story toys in the house (which was a lot), and set them in various locations around the party areas.

Moving on to food, for this party we served a lot more snack food and then little finger sandwiches and mini hot dogs. The time was mid morning so we were past breakfast and a little early for a full lunch. For the sandwiches we did, "Woody's Stars" and we just did mini cold cut sandwiches that we cut out with a star cookie cutter. The other "bigger" item was, "Slinkey's hot dogs" and it was pigs in a blanket. One fun detail was the Mr. Potato head made out of a cantelope. This was pretty straight forward of getting a cantelope and putting the potato head parts we had in it. The other items were just various cheese and crackers, chips, and fruits and vegetables (things I knew my kids liked and would eat). Dessert was obviously birthday cake. I started making my kid's cakes a couple years ago now, and I am still getting the hang of it. They get very excited to pick out the design and watch me do it, so even though I have A LOT of room for improvement, it is worth it to see the smiles on their faces when they see it. The base blue color of this went off from what I envionsed, but I still thought it ended up cute! I decorated it with a "4" candle, a topper off of Amazon, and a little pack of Toy Story figures also from Amazon. For the drinks, I like to do one themed drink. This one was based off the aliens and I did Sprite zero sugar and green Hawaiin Punch (half and half)-adding in themed straws and cups to make it a little more fun. I also like to add in various other choices for adults who may not want to drink basically juice.
